Today we are excited to announce our official support for Sony’s Spresense! With a powerful family of add-on sensor and networking modules, the Spresense microcontroller board enables edge solutions with high computing ability and low power consumption, making this platform ideal for professional industrial AI applications.
To make it easy to build and deploy industrial AI models on ultra-low-power silicon we have partnered with Sony to bring support for the Spresense platform to Edge Impulse - giving developers a quick and efficient way to collect data, build models, and then deploy to the Spresense’s CXD5602 MCU, and optionally utilizing its camera and sensor add-on modules and networking hardware extensions. Best of all, you can collect all of the Spresense’s sensor and camera data directly through the Edge Impulse Studio!
How do I get started?
Get started building your industrial-grade embedded machine learning applications for Sony’s Spresense today with our getting started guide.
- Purchase Sony’s Spresense main board and its optional add-ons:
- The Spresense extension board - to connect external sensors.
- The Spresense CXD5602PWBCAM1 camera add-on - if you want to add sight to your Spresense.
- The Spresense Sensor EVK-70 add-on - for models that use accelerometer motion data.
- The Spresense Wi-Fi / iS110B module - for wireless connectivity.
- Connect the board to Edge Impulse.
- Follow one of Edge Impulse’s tutorials on:
- Go to the Deployment tab of your Edge Impulse project, then build and download a ready-to-go binary that includes your machine learning model for the Spresense; or deploy as a C++ library and integrate the model into your own firmware!
Congratulations! You have now successfully built and deployed a low-power, industrial-grade embedded machine learning application for the Spresense.
We are very excited to see what you build with Sony’s Spresense platform and Edge Impulse, please post any questions you have and any projects you create over on our forum or tag @EdgeImpulse and @SonyDevWorld on our social media channels!
