Edge Impulse is excited to announce that the latest OpenMV camera is now fully supported and available for use on our machine learning platform! OpenMV boards are small, low-power camera boards programmed in MicroPython, allowing developers to easily run computer vision machine learning applications.
The OpenMV Cam RT1062 is the newest member of the OpenMV family of boards, and is based on the powerful NXP RT1062 MCU. The RT1062 contains an Arm Cortex M7 processor running at 600MHz and has 32mb of SDRAM, 1mb of SRAM, and 16mb of flash storage.
Included with the OpenMV Cam RT1062 is a OV5640 image sensor (camera) that is capable of taking 2592x1944 (5MP) images. The lens can be swapped out for other units, such as IR, telephoto, or wide-angle. There are also a series of add-on shields available, such as motor controllers, servos adapter, Wi-Fi, lighting, and more, which can extend the functionality of the OpenMV Cam to cover nearly any use case.
Like with previous versions of the OpenMV Cam, Edge Impulse support is quick and easy to leverage in your machine learning projects! Simply build your image classification or object detection model like normal, and when it is time to deploy the model, you can select the OpenMV Camera as the target device. A small .zip file containing the algorithm and device support is downloaded, and that .zip now contains the RT1062.h file needed to flash the board.
You can purchase an OpenMV Cam RT1062 easily from their website here, and be sure to let us know what you build with it.
