The Edge Impulse community never ceases to amaze us. In early 2021, we hit 10,000 projects, and in a blink of an eye, we have surpassed another major milestone: 100,000! That’s a 10X increase in just 18 months!
When Zach and I founded Edge Impulse in 2020, we always believed that our platform could make the process of developing, deploying, and scaling edge machine learning applications easier and faster than ever. However, we never expected to experience such adoption so quickly! On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank everyone in the community who has used Edge Impulse to build real products, share their learnings, and teach others — you are all what makes this tool what it is today!
To commemorate this occasion, let’s take a look at some interesting stats:
Back in January 2021, we had a total of 5.2 million data samples. Fast forward to today and Edge Impulse users add that amount of data every month! (In fact, we’re already over 5 million samples since the beginning of July, with still a week to go in the month.)
The most-used labels:
- Accelerometer: idle
- Audio: noise
- Camera: data and bottle
In the past month alone, we ran 8,611 hours of jobs (training models, generating features, etc.).
Metrics aside, we’re also impressed by how global our community has become. According to Google Analytics, we have had visitors from every country on Earth except Western Sahara, Greenland, Eritrea, Haiti, and North Korea. The most popular countries have been the U.S., India, UK, Germany, and China.
Last but not least, there have been a growing number of projects made public by the community — 3,000 and counting — that other developers can take inspiration from, clone, and then make their own. We’ve come across a wide range of innovative devices from blind spot monitors and worker accident safety systems to crop-destroying insect detectors and autonomous security robots, and we can’t wait to see what you create next leveraging embedded machine learning.
